The Flame of masonry this past year has become a
roaring beacon, spreading light throughout the state. It may also be construed
as a signal that beckons the brotherhood. Masonry has become pro-active in the
way we present information about our brotherhood. We don’t ask respectful men
to attend a dinner or for his support in one of our many charities. As such has
been the case recently; we now find ourselves a swarm with candidates and
questions.
Here in your lodge, your officers are working very
hard to correctly handle this influx. These officers over the past few years
have also been diligently working to change the perceived stereotyped lodge
meeting. Of course there will always be business to attend to and degree nights,
but emphasis is being placed on interesting and informative programs, comradery,
and family.
Our primary goal is still to make masons and
better men of those who ask. This process does not stop at a raising; this is
where it truly begins.
With so many good men currently seeking Masonic
light our task is arduous. We need able-bodied brothers to assure these men of
our substance they seek. This interest is also an opportunity to compound expand
what we do in lodge. Charity, scholarship, blood bank, committees, and family
nights, etc., each has something for someone to do and with hard work and
support anything that can be perceived can be achieved. We need to find each
persons niche and more importantly provide to them the means to fill that niche.
We should all try to meet or beat his expectations by providing outlets that are
not only earnest but also fun and self-fulfilling
The foundation of masonry will never
change. Our rituals and lessons remain steadfast, especially so when taught,
explained, and mentored properly. Who knows how far the right counsel in a new
Masons ear may go? It may be the push he needs to succeed. The comradary and
equality he feels will go out with him into his community and he will spread it.
I hope all brothers see this as a due sign to re-ignite the spark inside. May we
join together to make our Masonic light brighter and spread even further, may we
join together to rediscover and create new substance.
Respectfully
